Migrating North for the Winter

Hello Kiki,

At 6:30 in the morning I left Corinth with all that winter clothes I owned, a bag of sandwiches, and my bicycle. After 16 hours of Adele, Kesha, and a few other ridiciulously over played artisted I arrived in Scranton, PA (the electric city) at 11:30 pm. I have an amazing friend in Scranton that lets me stay at his place whenever. Chris what would I do without you. Well this trip I did somewhat help him move. When I was not doing that I was hanging out with another friend of mine in Scranton. I went off with Meredith to grab coffee and play scrabble or walk around the not so exciting city. For New Year's Eve I went into the city with Meredith and spent the night with opera singers. I don't know what you would call a group of opera singers....herd?....troop?....drama? Either way it was a fun night filled with some girl screaming for shots and then the same girl violently vomiting in a bed room. Tragic.

I had mixed feeling about leaving for Brewster, NY. I had only just gotten to Scranton and it was like a true vacation. Nothing to do and no worries. I was also really excited and nervous about started a new job as an intern at Green Chimneys in Yankee land. How does a southerner survive in the North. (I think that should be the title of a book.) That night I moved into the house, met my new house mates and went to bed early with no idea of what I had just gotten myself into.

The next day I met the rest of the farm team. Had a walk through of the Upper Barn where I would be working and went through a lot of meetings. Training for this job has been long and grueling. I am three weeks in right now and it is still not over. We had Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training where I got the nickname Mississippi, blood born pathogen training, and a dozen others that I can not remember right now.

The weather has not been as bad as I thought it was going to be..knock on wood. We did get snow twice but it did not last. I wanted to get some nice pictures of the animals in the snow, but on snow days we have more work and stopping to take pictures is time consuming. I doubt that even a large amount of time would help my photography skills.
Scarlett and Samantha wondering what I am doing

I love my house mates. They are a great group of girls that have welcomed me from the first day. I have some how become their enrichment class teacher. I am supposed to start a knitting class and a yoga class in the coming weeks. We will see how that goes. Thank you again for that yoga class, kiki. I am interested to see how this will go.

This past Saturday Lauren and I were working in the pig stalls when we heard Tulip a Vietnamese Potbelly making weird noises. Lauren went over to check it out and called me over when she noticed something strange. Tulip looked like she was straining and something was weird about her rear end. We called over to the horse barn supervisor and when she got there she saw that the pig had a prolapsed rectum. We had to get the pig board and hold Tulip still while the horse barn supervisor pushed it back in. After numerous calls to the vet and upper barn supervisor we had everything under control. It was definitely the most interesting day I have had a work so far.
